In 2022, four exceptional agencies came together to sponsor scholarships and provide robust, educational PR fellowships - and today students can expect rigorous experiential programs working side-by-side with industry professionals, across 12 agencies, doing real work. Fellowships come with amazing perks, including:

How to apply

Each scholarship is unique, but generally, students must meet the following criteria:

- Be a rising junior or senior attending an accredited college or university as a full-time registered undergraduate student

- Identify as Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, American Indian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander

- Meet GPA requirements

- Be technologically equipped for the fellowship and have their own laptop.

- Are authorized to work in the United States and have a state-issued ID and second form of identification for hourly work.

Preference might be given to applicants pursuing a career in public relations, communications, or the related field of work. Please check back when applications reopen to see each agency's application details.

The Key has launched dozens of startups, built brands, and created multi-dimensional communications programs for a wide range of companies. What are the application requirements?

To apply, please revisit our website in January 2026, when the application page reopens. To submit your application, you will need to meet the criteria for the participating agency partner and to submit the following:

- The online application form
- A resume
- A personal statement answering an essay question
- Some applications require work samples

How do I apply?

Applications go through our application landing page, which will be unlocked and posted to this website in January 2026.

Is this a paid fellowship?

Absolutely! Each agency provides a scholarship, and a paid 6-12 week fellowship, similar to a paid internship. In addition, some agencies provide a fellowship stipend. Please see the application for more details on each agency's offerings.

4.

Do I get hired after my fellowship?

Fellowships are standalone opportunities for students to gain real-life PR agency experience. Post-fellowship hiring is not within the purview of this fellowship program - we recommend that all questions be addressed directly to the agency's point of contact.

When is the deadline?

The application is tentatively scheduled to close February 17, 2026. Please check back for further details and updates when the application goes live in January 2026!

6.

What professional development opportunities are offered?

For the first time, the program will provide all students with professional development opportunities. Natan Edelsburg, Chief Partnership Officer at Muck Rack and 2026 PRSA Foundation President, Mark Strong, founder and CEO of Strong Professional, and Brian Gabay, CEO of Brian Simon Associates, will provide training for all fellows to accelerate their careers.
